Butterfly Restaurant & Bar

Butterfly Restaurant & Bar

Butterfly is located in Pier 33 right on the bay in SF. The drive in was quick and we found parking right on Bay Street about 1.5 blocks from the place. In we walked and were given a big booth for our group.
We started off with the HH drink of the Day: a Cherry Lemon Drop. $5 for a hand shaken sugar rimmed glass of Happy….very nice way to kick off  HH after a crazy work week.  The beers are $4, featured wines $5. They have other specialty drinks not on HH menu and we tried a Emperor’s margarita $12 and a hand shaken cucumber gimlet for $8. Both were nice but the deal was the HH drink and in my opinion they nailed it. The other HH drink special is $1 oyster shooters….We all tried them and then had to order more! The Bloody Mary mix was just right- not too spicy but definitely woke up your taste buds and the delicate little sweet oyster was fresh and delicious.

Butterfly has high ceilings and an open feeling- not a huge place but inviting. There were groovy lights shaped light sea urchins and interesting art and metal shapes throughout and a very big view of the bay. The bar was moon shaped and had around 12 bar stools but HH was served throughout the dining room and bar. With a 3 hour window of HH (4-7 pm Tues - Fri) you are bound to be able to catch part of it.
Service was quick and professional but friendly and helpful.
The appetizers were the BIG hit…great prices, very good options and BIG portions…We tried everything and it was a lot of food. The food is considered Asian Fusion. The hits were the duck confit egg rolls, Kahlua Pig wrapped in butter lettuce wraps & the Shrimp Shu Mai dumplings, but you can’t go wrong.
This is a repeat for sure….
Overall Rating 9.5
